I'm just finally getting a chance to catch up on this and enjoying it so far.

I like the no fuss departure, but the sunset photograph + flash (-lamp? -bulb?) seems off to me, with the small bit I know about early photography, lighting and exposure. Particularly since Jack is interested in the camera, which means it's mechanical, not created. (Not that I'm anywhere near an expert.)
