Loving it so far! Only one thing did jump out at me, and that was Clare (lol my name's Clare too, you have good taste) swearing at Ellis.

"Because you couldn't fuck yourself to protect him!" For some reason this sounds really artificial to me. If I were pissed off and swearing in that context I would be saying, "Because you couldn't be fucking bothered to protect him!" or "Because you couldn't be fucked protecting him!"

On the other hand, it might just be an AmE/NZE difference of usage. Just something to think about!
