The chapter definitely feels a lot more clipped now!

I noticed the switch from Clare's godfather to Jack's dad as well, I think it was a good decision. It ties her childhood closer to Jack's, really shows that they've grown up together. And axing the godparents isn't much of a loss considering we never got to meet them anyway. I wonder what you'll do about her letters to them now, though.

Also, if there was an "initiative" to send children to America as well as Britain, but she was one of the few for whom it ever got off the ground - will Anderson be one of the few as well? Oooh, depending on how you do this there'll be less, or more resonance between them now :D

I agree that Because you couldn't fuck yourself to protect him! sounds odd, and I'm comfortable with both British and American English. Maybe "Because you couldn't be fucked to protect him"? HAH, the innuendo! I would go for "you couldn't be arsed protecting him" personally, but I'm aware that that would be waaaaay too British for Clare to say. Unless she was saying it bitterly and ironically at the Englishman Graveworthy :D
