Now that I'm not rushing off to an exam, a little bit about content.
I'm glad they finally left, because them being in Cambridge was starting to drag out, but the departure almost seems too sudden and without ceremony. I get that the ceremony was the day before, but I still kind of did a double-take when I realized they'd actually just left.
The story of the Battle of the Pyramids was incredibly believable and heartbreaking. I also thought that you presented the discussion on Creation in war afterward very well. All three perspectives seemed valid and to fit the characters to me, even as your close 3rd person narrator was rejecting the others'.
Them being able to get water from the ocean onboard confused me the last time around and still does a little? Do they drop down to just above sea-level to get it, and if so, how do they make sure they aren't noticed while doing that? Feels like a dumb question, but I can't seem to stop wondering.
