You say that "twenty-five thousand French and thirty-thousand Mamluk" were killed, but you say later that "forty-five thousand soldiers died."
That one detail threw me out of the story, but otherwise I was mesmerized by this chapter. I really like the mix of lighter elements with the dark story of the Battle of the Pyramids.
