I also did a double-take at the liftoff, but I like how unfussy it is. They’re spies! It isn’t supposed to be done with fanfare, it’s supposed to be quick and secret!

Isn’t the scene with Anderson from the last chapter taking place the morning of liftoff? I think if you moved the liftoff to chapter 10 so it immediately follows Anderson giving Clare the letter, it will be a little more clear that they’re prepping for liftoff *that day.*
