I like how quick and unfussy the departure is, to me it rang true to how anticlimatic/relaxing it feels to get started on a long journey after a lot of worrying and planning. (Personally I love the moment when there's nothing to do but settle into the trip, when I can't plan or prepare any more. Come what may!) Though having one of the characters remark on it sounds like a good idea.
