Sorry to post back here when you're now many chapters ahead, but had a brief thought about why I thought Non's astroturfing post was industry-specific. I think it's because it reads like he's doing damage control. I get why he would be doing that, but it means his post reads more like he's writing company PR copy than a blog. I mean, it's a funny subject, right? A middle-aged CEO acting like a 14-year-old making up stuff on a messageboard, and the internet going batshit over it. I think Non could do way more pointing and laughing, 'cause mocking is always fun to read (this is probably why more of the cafe read fandom_wank than company PR news feeds, too).
I think I'm trying to say that snarky things in the vein of "OMG GUYS YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT THIS ASSHOLE DID" attract a wider audience than "Ok, this guy did this and that was a shitty move, moving swiftly on to the implications". We're not proud of it. But then, it is the internet.
