I agree with most of the fixes you pointed out, and am workin' on them now.
Re the spotlight, I really shouldn't have called it that :D It's just lights coming up on them, there's no spot operator. It's an assembly room in a hotel, with a light rig. I have been in about a billion of them since starting this job, alas.
