Oh you know what? I never had an assembly in college. That might be the other piece of it. I only attended assemblies in high school. We did have small groups that we met in as Freshmen but they made them class-sized (indeed, they were determined by which Freshman seminar you signed up for). Not as rowdy or unmanageable with 30 people. When we did have large lectures of mixed years, they were optional and you could sit wherever you liked.
I suppose that's not something that needs to be changed in th story, but some of us are bringing some very different contexts to it.
