Their take-off seemed really abrupt to me too. And they aren't nearly excited enough at being the pioneers of air travel, the first people ever to fly! I think we got to see that a bit more of that wonder in the earlier draft, with Ellis' journal entry. And didn't Anderson whoop when they took off in the earlier version? Write more reactions man! :D
Also maybe it's just me but it wasn't very clear when they were flying above Italy. When I read Ellis' letter that was written in Italy, I wondered why it was put there out of context, and had to scroll back up to realise that the Temple they were talking about was Italian.
